Course Description
Our Review Course in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS) is a live educational activity designed for practitioners and residents seeking a comprehensive review of all aspects of OMS in preparation for examinations. The course emphasizes evidence-based practices of all areas of OMS. The depth in didactic material from lectures and manuals, supplemented by case format presentations and mock examinations, is intended to fully prepare surgeons and residents for their specialty certifying examinations. As one of the longest running OMS review courses, we take great pride in providing participants with a second to none educational experience based on previous course evaluations, input from the country’s foremost expert leaders, a dedicated advisory committee, and a review of current issues and needs in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Our faculty are world renown educators, in which most are past examiners for ABOMS.
Learning Objectives:
- Improve patient care in any/all practice areas of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery,
- Identification of knowledge and treatment goal deficiencies,
- Assistance in preparations for the qualifying and certifying examinations,
- Recognition of performance needs and outcomes in patient care,
- Understand a wide variety of diagnostic parameters and surgical treatment options for more efficient and improved/safe patient care,
- Potentially modify treatment goals and patient outcomes as a result of speaker’s presentations.
- Enjoy our distinguished speakers discuss examination and treatment plans, radiographic studies, surgical outcomes, postoperative care, and management of complications on all topics.
All lectures involve NEW Case Format Presentations which mimic the educational style of resident quizzing on rounds, during conferences and oral examinations. This is accomplished through interactive discussions on each topic between Faculty Speakers and LSU residents or any volunteer attendees who are preparing for the Oral Certifying Examination. All attendees will be provided lectures on USB flash drives allowing attendees to follow directly along with lecturers. Didactic information on the USB flash drives also provides a sound base for Written Qualifying Board preparation. The ballroom of the JW Marriott Hotel is more than adequate to provide safe social distancing while you enjoy again “in person” surgical and medical/dental education.
