Course Description
Course Objectives
Infectious Diseases – There will be an Update to identify some of the most significant topics and recent literature that highlight emerging themes in current infectious diseases.
Anesthesia – Following this presentation the attendee will be able to identify new drugs and monitoring techniques that are being developed to improve safety and patient care in ambulatory anesthesia. OMS can take advantage of these developments and effectively incorporate these new medications and monitors as well as equipment into their daily practice. Above all, artificial intelligence (AI) will be ubiquitous in the practice of office-based anesthesia in the near future changing the game altogether.
Dental Implants – In the first implant lecture the attendee will be exposed to complications that result in loss of tissue quality and quantity with implant procedures which required an organized approach to restore patients back to function. Cases may be submitted by the attendees and will be inserted within the lectures to document these problems and solutions.
In the second implant lecture the attendees will be exposed to new technologies and treatment modalities in which the success is dependent on one’s ability to decipher between myths and realities. This presentation will address a range of treatment concepts and implant technologies through a combination of clinical research review and real-world experience.
Fibula Flap and Bone Grafting – This presentation will discuss the role of fibula free flap in the reconstruction of benign and malignant lesions of the head and neck and will include multiple clinical cases. There will also be the option of treating benign lesions with bone grafting.
Computer-Assisted Surgery – This lecture will focus on targeted applications of computer-assisted surgery in orthognathic and maxillofacial trauma surgery to maximize its benefits and improve patient outcomes.
INTENDED AUDIENCE: This activity is specifically directed towards the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon and Restorative Dentist, but it is open to all other interested dentists, physicians, residents, medical and dental students, and allied health professionals.

Course Schedule
Friday, April 14, 2023
Often we see patients present who have had jaw procedures performed, resulting in loss of tissue quality and quantity. Some of these are the result of surgical and prosthetic technique complications, or failure of their dentition, resulting in the need for an organized approach to restore them back to function. Cases will be submitted by the attendees and will be inserted within the lectures to document similar cases treated. Interested Attendees will be required to upload cases using WeTransfer by April 1, 2023 in order to be discussed in an open format manner by Dr. Block
This presentation will discuss the role of fibula free flap in the reconstruction of benign and malignant lesions of the head and neck. The presentation will include multiple clinical cases and we will also discuss the option of treating benign lesions with bone grafting.
The application of advanced technologies to oral and maxillofacial surgery has led to exciting advances and improved efficiency but also increased cost. This lecture will focus on targeted applications of computer-assisted surgery in orthognathic and maxillofacial trauma surgery to maximize its benefits and improve patient outcomes.
Saturday, April 15, 2023
